| Happy Anniversary La Fe! |
|
By Goyo Lopez This issue marks our first year of existence and hopefully the first of many more. This inaugural year has been a journey in discovering what you, the reader, enjoy and desire. The most obvious includes placing people you know on the cover. Whether it was Bishop Tamayo, Sister De Lellis or Butch Flores, what mattered most is that the La Fe covers featured people of our diocese. This anniversary issue focuses on the enormous impact that one lady has had on our community. Lamar BruniVergara’s legacy is exemplified threefold with examples from religion, education and health -the three areas into which the Lamar Bruni Vergara Trust infuses revenue to further improve Laredo. And La Fe will exert every effort to continue placing local faces on our cover. I believe that La Fe has found a healthy balance between local and general interest content. Another reader favorite is the Culture spread with either recipes or craft ideas for the entire family. And I’m not saying that because I like to eat. This year we introduce a new theme and a new column. We concluded the beatitudes in December and throughout 2004, La Fe features stories reflecting the Ten Commandments. In addition, married couples, as well as those considering marriage, will enjoy our newest addition to the La Fe family of columns. Your Marriage Matters provides matter-of fact answers to everyday dilemmas faced by everyday people like you and me. The answers are realistic, practical and applicable to relationships. Most important, La Fe is here to help, not hinder. And it seems that we’ve done that so far in this first year. From helping CCD classes to bringing people together who have not spoken in years, La Fe has served as the impetus for good things in our diocese. And it’s all been done with your help and support. Thanks for reading La Fe and for spreading the good word. |
